Happily Ever After, After All

Riding the wave of success of Happily Ever After, After All, the 9 O’Clock Players of Hollywood, CA have commissioned Nick to write another new musical for them. This time, Scott Guy will write the book and the lyrics and Nick will write the music. The requested title? Cinderella. You can bet it’ll be the snarkiest Cinderella this side ofFractured Fairy Tales. The anticipated opening date is spring of 2007.

Big River is in its last weeks and is still running at over 90% capacity. It’s truly a big hit for the Ford’s Theatre and DeafWest and Nick is proud to be the musical director and conductor of such a fine production. It closes June 4 after a run of eleven weeks.

In June, Nick will conduct the Ocean City Pops Orchestra (NJ) for his good friend Lorna Luft. Lorna, of course, is Judy Garland’s younger daughter and she does a wonderful show called Songs My Mother Taught Me. SMMTM is an exciting and often moving retrospective of her mother’s most renowned songs. The show was written by multiple Emmy® winners Ken and Mitzi Welch, of The Carol Burnett Show, fame. Nick is proud to have written some of the orchestrations for the show and is excited to be able to conduct the show once again.

In July, Nick will return to his educational roots and play for the five week summer conservatory program at the Paper Mill Playhouse. Nick will be at the piano accompanying some of the most talented high school students in northern New Jersey, culminating in a weekend of performances on the stage of the Paper Mill the last week of July. Nick is very happy for the opportunity to be able to “give back” a little to the art form and also to help build future performers and perhaps more importantly… future audiences.
