Overture to “Razzle Dazzle”

­Nick created orchestrations for legendary film and TV star Mitzi Gaynor’s 2009 touring production “Razzle Dazzle”. The overture, scored for rhythm section, synth and three winds, sets the tone for the show with sections from many of her big hits, including “Bali Hai”, “Razzle Dazzle”, “There is Nothing Like A Dame” and “There’s No Business Like Show Business”.

Betty Hutton Medley

Commissioned by the Key West Pops for a March 2007 premiere and sung by Susie Speidel, this 9’38” medley arranged and orchestrated by Nick for large orchestra pays homage to the “Blonde Bombshell” herself and touches on many of the great specialty numbers that Betty Hutton made famous, including: “Murder, He Said”, “That’s Loyalty”, “Square in a Social Circle” and “It Had To Be You”.

Sisters (from White Christmas)

­Commissioned by Kean University for a Christmas concert at Carnegie Hall, “Sisters” was one of 14 pieces   presented in December of 2005 and starring Tony® Award winning actress Daphne Rubin-Vega.  The entire movie score was lovingly re-created by Nick and re-scored for big band and strings.

Fanny Hill Excerpt  

Scored for woodwind, cello and piano, Ed Dixon’s Fanny Hill made it’s World Premiere in January of 2006 at the York Theatre in NYC starring Nancy Anderson in the title role.  Nick’s lovely orchestration reflects all the color and flair of the show’s period and characters.

Sherlock Holmes Excerpt

Sherlock Holmes is a chamber musical based on several of the Conan Doyle stories.  Nick composed the music and Scott Guy wrote the book and lyrics.  Nick’s orchestration for violin, woodwind, horn, piano, bass and drums was recorded in Los Angeles at Studio 47 in 2005.
