Cinderella

Commissioned by the Nine O’Clock Players, with music by Nick DeGregorio and book and lyrics by Scott Guy.

Big Sky

  • Written for Oscar and Emmy award winning composer Gerry Fried’s film scoring class at UCLA. It was recorded at Ground Control in Los Angeles with a 40-piece orchestra.
  • Nick composed, orchestrated and conducted.

Love Me If You Dare

  • Teri Bibb sings the haunting ballad from Sherlock Holmes.
  • Nick composed, orchestrated and conducted this selection.

Distress

  • Nick wrote the music and lyrics and Scott Guy wrote the book for the 2004 musical Happily Ever After, After All which had it’s world premiere at the Walter Lantz Theatre in Los Angeles.
  • Commisioned by the 9 O’Clock Players for their 75th Anniversary celebration, Happily Ever After, After Allhad two extended runs in Los Angeles and has also played Fairbanks, Alaska.
  • That’s David Murgittroyd playing Prince Charming and Tara Deieso as Sleeping Beauty.

Lover & Killer

  • Another selection written for Gerry Fried’s film scoring class at UCLA and recorded at Ground Control in Los Angeles but in this session with a 50-piece orchestra.
  • Nick composed, orchestrated and conducted.

Mike Terzano

An excerpt from High School Reunion: The Musical.  With book and lyrics by Billy Van Zandt & Jane Milmore and music by Billy Van Zandt, Jane Milmore and Nick DeGregorio, the show had its world premiere to critical acclaim at Brookdale Performing Arts Center in May of 2009.  For more information, please visit vanzandtmilmore.com

  • Nick is also the arranger and orchestrator and was music director for the Brookdale run.  And yes, that’s him singing on this demo version of the song.
  • A note on the song:  Mike Terzano is a reunion crasher whose main purpose is to pick up lonely and desperate women.  Kind of a “vulture of love”.  Oddly enough, his technique works.  The cue line for the song is “Who are you?” and as you’ll see, he thoroughly answers the question.

Swashbuckler

  • An homage to the grandiose music written for the pirate and adventure epics of the 50’s and 60’s.
  • Nick composed, orchestrated and conducted.

Excerpt from Darby O’Gill

  • In this demo recording, Holly Logue sings the roles of both Pegeen (Darby’s wife) and The Leprechaun Queen.  Nick wrote and recorded the music and narrates.
  • Developed in conjunction with ANMT for Cathy Rigby and McCoy/Rigby Productions.

Pinocchio Excerpts Act 1

  • This was recorded in Nick’s home with a sequenced accompaniment. It was produced in 2000 and was his first collaboration with Scott Guy.
  • Nick composed, arranged and engineered this selection.

Believe in Me

  • A pop ballad added to Pinocchio to satisfy the producer’s request. That is Steve Kirwan singing Scott Guy’s lyrics.
  • Nick wrote the music and orchestrations and created the tracks.

Panshel’s World 2

  • An underscore Nick wrote and sequenced for a pilot episode of a computer graphics (CG) children’s show. It was produced by Deos and Mike Young Productions.

Purple Pelican Show Theme

  • This TV show theme is quite possibly Nick’s favorite composition. That’s Nick whistling and playing kazoo and duck call.
  • Nick composed, arranged and engineered this selection.

Tyger! Tyger!

  • This is a setting of William Blake’s famous poem in a rock idiom.
  • Nick composed, arranged and engineered this selection.

Chicago

  • Nick recreated the original orchestration of this classic standard from Judy Garland’s legendary Carnegie Hall recording for a DVD, released by his close friend and Judy’s younger daughter, Lorna Luft.
  • Barry Manilow produced the DVD, entitled Songs My Mother Taught Me.

  • Katherine Lench and company sing the title song in a 2000 production. An interesting side note… the drummer on this recording is Mark Stevens, inventor of the Mark Tree and drummer on Chuck Barris’ “The Gong Show”
