China Bound

On July 21, Nick travels to the Far East (no, not the Hamptons… China!) to begin work on a new production of 42nd Street.  The show will run for four months in China and travel to around seven or eight cities, including Shanghai and Beijing.  In December the show moves to S Korea for another four months.  Following Korea, there is a strong possibility of several other venues, including Kuala Lumpur, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau and Japan.

This is an excerpt from an email Nick sent to friends and family this week:

“The show’s producers are Troika and Nederlander. Jeff Rizzo, the conductor I worked with on the First National Tour, will be conducting the first part of this one, probably through the end of November. The plan is for me to assist him and take over as musical director and conductor when we go to Korea. The show will be directed by Mark Bramble, who co-wrote it with Michael Stewart.

It should be an amazing trip and while I’m very excited about the opportunity to spend an extended period of time in these exotic places that I’d probably never visit otherwise, I do have some mixed feelings about it. It’ll be hard to leave mom and America (and apple pie for that matter), but the wanderlust (and moneylust) was too much to resist.

I’m planning on keeping the news page of my website updated on a fairly regular basis. It’ll become more of a blog while I’m away, so you can keep up on my doings, if you’re so inclined.
